A lot of people know that the winter time is dangerous for the health, but so is the summertime. Here are some things that you should remember when it comes to summer health to make sure that the summer is happy and healthy for everyone.
- Protect Skin – The first thing that you should do is to make sure that you’re protecting your skin when you go outside. Wear a hat, wear sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, and reapply after swimming or sweating. This is especially important if you are over 50 or you are fair skinned, because you are going to be at a greater risk for skin cancer.
- Protect Eyes – The second thing that you should do is to make sure that you’re protecting your eyes. The sun can damage your eyes as much as it can damage your skin, so make sure that you’re wearing sunglasses that have a good UV protection on them.
- Drink Water – The third thing that you should do is to make sure that you’re drinking lots of water. You are going to get dehydrated during the summer, especially if you are outside a lot, so make sure that you have lots of water on hand. Avoid things like soda because it’s going to make you more dehydrated. Anything with caffeine in it can make you dehydrated as well.
- Be Smart – Finally, you want to be smart. If you start feeling dizzy or you notice that you are feeling sick, it may be time to head into the shade or even into an air conditioned building. Heat stroke and exhaustion are really dangerous and you should know when your body has had too much.
These are the four things that you should remember when it comes to the summertime and dealing with the summer heat.
