There are horror stories from one end of the United States to the other. Underage kids are given long jail sentences for possession and sales of illegal marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy and LSD. Some of these kids are shot as they try to run, even with handcuffs on their wrists. Parents scream foul, but who’s listening, who cares? If the atrocity isn’t happening to your kids, just slink away in your warm fuzzy cocoon of denial that your child would even speak to a kid who dealt drugs.
Wake up America. According to, The Anti Drug, it is estimated that just under 5,000 kids try marijuana for the first time. Approximately, 9 out 10 seniors in high school agreed that marijuana was accessible to them. By the end of 8th grade, 50% of kids had drank an alcoholic beverage. Out of that group, 20% stated they were intoxicated. So chances are good that your child will be in the wrong place, at the wrong time, with the wrong people. They may not know the party they are attending is passing around drugs with the beer, but if the police bust through the front doors that won’t matter.
Drug law reform needs to start with the parents, to protect their children from unfair jail time. Parents need to contact their Assembly and Congress and ask them to stop putting your children at risk for a marijuana joint or tablets of ecstasy. The average adult knows what these drugs will do to their kids, and strict laws have not proven to stop drug use. In fact, jail time leads to anger, and that anger leads to making new friends in the jail instead of school chums. Not a good way to keep your child safe and on the right path in life.
